
Shorebirds, seagrass and stencils

Saturday March 18 and Sunday March 19, 10 – 4pm both days
This workshop introduces the use of stencil shapes in a printmaking context, using traditional materials but also exploring the use of plywood for plates. It isn’t a high-tech process, more an introduction to something that can be played with, there will be stencils available to experiment with and help provide inspiration.
Cost: $75 ($95 non members) for one day, $125 ($145 non members) for two days, with a minimum of 6 participants doing both days. This includes materials.
Saturday: 10-12 meet at local shorebird habitat for brief talk with a shorebird expert, a chance to take photos, look around, look at some birds and collect materials suitable for stencilling.
12-1 Lunch at the habitat if weather’s fine (bring picnic)
1-30 Go to the print workshop. Kate will give a short talk about her own work and her projects.
2.00 – 4pm Begin to experiment with stencilling
Sunday: 10-4 (with a lunch break)
Continue with stencilling. Participants can bring prepared lino plates and also experiment with chine colle.
NOTE: Participants will also be invited to join Kate’s new print project, The Overwintering Project, at a reduced rate.
