Mei’s mostly figurative, oft absurdist work explores the Human Condition.
Mei studied Literature and Philosophy, University of WA (BA, 1980); then Fine Art in Paris (1981-86), l’Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts de Paris. She completed the Graduate Diploma, Natural Resource Management (1990) and MA, Environmental Studies (1995), University of Adelaide. She majored in Printmaking, Adelaide College of the Arts (BVA, 2010) and Adelaide Central School of Art (BVA Honours, 2014). Mei completed the Graduate Diploma in Art History (2018) and MA Curatorial & Museum Studies (2020), University of Adelaide & Art Gallery of SA.
Recipient of awards, mentorships and residencies, Mei exhibits work within Australia and overseas. Her work is held in private and public collections, including Art Gallery of SA. She is a founding Committee Member, Minutes Secretary and former Vice-Chair of Bittondi Printmakers; SA Representative, Print Council of Australia; Associate Fellow/Council Member, Royal SA Society of Arts.
